![]() Have seen so many suggestions and some pretty complicated options, spent hours trying them out but I recon the Macbooks are dead against what I am trying to do. Not sure how to proceed with this further as the disks are unreadable so I cant check what is on them although I cannot now try them on the HP Laptop as it went belly up last Sat (6th) Tried all the other CD's I have created (by various burn/flash methods on both 13" Macbooks - same results on each. ![]() Select CD-ROM boot type : _ ( with a flashing underscore/cursor) Tried these 2 new DVD's holding down C key and both gave same screen as preious ie a 1. Used 1st 2 methods for creating 2 new DVD's on New 4.7 GB Verbatim DVD+R RW (an old pack unopened until now!, I'm a horder)Ģ) On our 2nd (my Daughters) Old 13" Macbook which does have DVD Burning using Disk Utility BURN option ![]() Reset PRAM again & Rebooted gave no difference I tried both but they ended up just displaying a flashing Cursor at top LHS of screen. Second line showed advanced cinnamon option It did display a Window start up arrow and then what appeared to be a boot option screen ? (holding Alt at boot up) I even tried installing the 240 GB SSD with LM on it which did work on the HP Probook. No joy so far - this 13" Macbook doesn't seem to want to recognise either the Bootable USB drive (which HP windows 10 did) or any of the DVD's The only s/w I have used so far are Balena Etcher to flash USB drive and Mac os right Mouse on the ISO file & select Burn image to Disc.Īlso tried Flashing to an older 8GB Kingston USB drive, also did not Boot up on Macbook and when left in gave an error not readable. I cant check this as the various disc I have created do not Boot up 13" Macbook holding the C key down and all are not readable by this computer Macbook or iMac It also says the Disc should contain directories such as Boot and Casper it shoudn't be an empty DVD containing an ISO file. LM install instructions specifically states "Burn the contents of the ISO file to the DVD not the ISO file itself" Struggling to understand which Toast commands to use to burn contents of ISO file to Disk Tried using Toast Titanium but was unsure which Menu options to use Data ISO or Data Mac only ?ĭata ISO 9660 gave an error "CD-ROM XA or Audio Tracks cannot be written to DVD. Tried Burning to a DVD+R 4.7GB (ie Not Dual Layer) made no difference, Tried resetting PRAM and SCM, made no difference. I will try a different DVD in case this 13" Macbook wont accept the Dual Layer one I used+ I could try using Toast, although it's an old version., at least the C key start up got further than the Alt key with Bootable USB. On the HP Probook the USB (64bit) was apparently booting in Legacy mode (lots of replies on my HP posting showed me how to check this).ĭo I need to get an ISO file that will boot EFI, or one specifically for Mac's, if so how do I get this as the LM website Download does not seem to offer any options on Legacy or EFI ? Swap 2GB (to match the 2GB memory installed) SX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) much quicker, Even started the partitioning in advance for installing LM ie I tried typing 1 or 2 or just pressing return but it was not accepting any keyboard input and no further disk access, so not able to go any further.Ī few weeks ago I had already changed my orignal 80GB HDD to a 480GB SSD Cloned with Super Dupa and it runs O Placed the DVD in Macbook with C pressed on startup, lots of accessing DVD drive than a menu appeared which displayed :. I have created a DVD (Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5GB) from the ISO image (I had been using earlier see 1st Post) on my 27" iMac by using RMouse on the ISO image & Burn Image to DVD. ![]() Thanks for the C key info which did do something :. Ps When the Bootable usb drive is left in place at start up OSX advises the device is not recognised It was created using my 2009 27" iMac (OSX 10.13.6) downloaded from Kent University Mirror site and the ISO verified & Authenticated before using Balena Etcher to flash it to a 32GB USB drive. Is the Linux USB Bootable drive suitable for either Windows 10 or Macbook OSX 10.6.8 This post is my plan B as the HP Probook has just decided it will not start, so i am going down this Macbook route, would really like to get it dual booting Mac OSX 10.6.8 or Linux Mint (if Cinnamon 20.2 will work on it ok) but will initially settle for getting a live session started so I can check if I cinnamon works ok or whether I have to get a lighter version. The Bootable USB drive has already been used in Live mode to install LM Cinnamon 20.2 on an HP Probook 6560b (thats the subject of a previous post as I was unable to get LM dual booting with windows10) I have 2 old Macbooks both running OSX 10.6.8 and am unable to boot from a Bootable USB drive which is not recognised when holding the Alt key during booting up process. ![]()
